Firebreaks

A mosaic landscape saves lives

A mosaic landscape saves lives

Today's large wildfires spread out of control because abandoned hillsides form one continuous mass of vegetation. When an olive grove is neglected, scrub and invading woodland take over and the fire no longer meets any obstacle.

Mountain olive groves cared for with ancestral farming break that continuity: they are critical breaks in the vegetation that help to slow the advance of the flames.

Every terrace, a green firebreak

Every terrace, a green firebreak

Every cleared terrace acts as a strategic green firebreak that protects the municipality of Barx and Valencian biodiversity. That is why, for us, keeping these fields alive is not a business: it is the best natural barrier against fire.

Your sponsorship directly funds the hours of clearing, pruning and care that keep these barriers in place. And once the rural house opens, you will be able to walk them on the Green Firebreak Trail, a route guided by the project's farmers.
